Lotus Elise & Exige

The Lotus Elise is quite simply the best handling car to come out of this country in the last decade. The epitomy of the Balance Motorsport philosophy it relies not on huge and exotic power but staggering handling. It’s chassis is simply amazing and by virtue of it’s light weight it is all but untouchable on circuit by cars with twice it’s power output. The original model is the purest where the light weight philosophy remained key to founder Colin Chapman’s original thinking. The Lotus Elises unique bonded structure endows it with chassis stiffness that makes the whole package such a fun car. It is it’s responsiveness to inputs and the way the car fits you like a glove that make’s it so rewarding.

Motorsport & Trackday Use Where to start? Quickly grouped into the same class as Caterham’s and Westfields from the start the Lotus Elise is a brilliant car to use on track. Much maligned the K-Series engine is excellent, especially in VVC form where it is probably one of the best 4 cylinder engines ever made - it's variable valve control is much more advanced even today than any of the other systems in the market (Incidentally add throttle bodies and a decent exhaust to the VVC engine and close to 190hp is achievable with NO loss of bottom end torque). Fast as the Toyota engines are they need revs to work and on many tracks it you dip out of the power band you’ll wish you had the VVC engine in the back.  Suspension set up is key – it’s easy to mess up an Elise with over zealous spring and damper combinations and incorrect geometry. We can supply range of suspension solutions either by mail order or supply fit and set up for you. The K-Series engine is very tuneable and we can supply bolt on parts or complete race spec engines.
