Buying a complete suspension kit is one of the best ways of improving overall handling ability. We provide both fully adjustable coilover kits where the ride height can be set along with corner weights, and we also provide performance suspension kits which provide a lowered uprated suspension spring complete with matched damper unit. A coilover unit with a spring and adjustable/non-adjustable damper (shocks) provides an excellent method of increasing handling ability. The same content in our damper and spring sections applies here. The adjustable coilover unit must be set up correctly. The performance suspension kits are easier to work with because you don't have to set the ride height. The fundamental difference is that these units are the result of much research and testing so you can be sure you are getting a unit that will perform out of the box. Whereas the coilover kit will require more set up it will ultimately outperform the performance suspension kit. The choice of unit really depends again on the kind of use the car will be subjected to. There is no reason why a mildly uprated, slightly lower kit with non-adjustable dampers will not work superbly on the road and still have enough in reserve for the occasional track day. Whenever circuit work is considered though it really makes sense to go for fully adjustable coilovers, which enable both ride height (and subsequently preload so corner weights can be set) and damping force to be adjustable. In order to be really competitive it is essential to make sure you have the ability to adjust the car to suit different track conditions and also other modifications that may be made in the future such as weight reduction, power increases, differentials etc. This is not to say that road cars should not look at adjustable coilovers. In fact the ability to have a car which can perform at a track day and then be set up for touring use or load lugging is one reason why adjustable coilovers present such an ideal solution. Just remember that if you spend time and money getting corner weights done you will mess them up if you raise the back end to take a fellow competitor home! Now featuring KW Suspension.
